Winterizing your equipment

Small engines you are going to want to put an additive into your fuel. We recommend seafoam, once you have that mixed in with your fuel you are going to need to do one of two things. One option is to run it all out of gas with the seafoam or you can run your engine for about two and a half hours. This will ensure that the seafoam is all the way through your system. This helps your stabilize your gasoline from separating and gunking up your machine while it is not being used.

For the diesel engines, most of our customers will be running their tractors through the winter but many might not be. No matter what your tractor will be used for you will need to get it ready for the colder months. First thing you are going to want to put anti gel in with your diesel fuel. You are going to want to check your tire pressure. Next you will want to check check your filters and fluids, make sure your filters do not need to be changed and that your fluids are topped off.

Lastly you are going to want to check your glow plugs and block heater.  Pull the glow plugs and make sure they turn a cherry red color in about 10 seconds. Check the wire on the block heater and make sure it is visibly fine, when you plug it in the block will get warm. These need to be in good condition to keep your tractor up and running. Remember that you are going to want to let your glow plugs warm up before starting, this can take a couple times of cycling before it starts in the colder months. Another tip is if you are going to leave your tractor unused for 90 days you should place a trickle charger on your battery to keep it fully charged.
